For me, People Building began as a puzzle. I had just qualified as a trainer of NLP, having previously completed my NLP Practitioner and NLP Master Practitioner training as well as being a qualified Hypnotherapist.

I already had a successful Hypnotherapy & NLP practice and was craving more. However, one of the essential elements in starting up my new business was missing from my wealth of resources – money! I desperately needed an extra pair of hands to help me get the business off the ground whilst continuing to run my Hypnotherapy practice, but didn’t have the funds to pay someone. If I got a loan from the bank, I wouldn’t be earning enough each month to pay it back. Eeek. Bad times.

Not one to be put off by something as trivial as lack of funds, I adopted the Law of Requisite Variety (the person with the most flexibility of behaviour has the greatest influence over others). So, I put an advert in the paper, basically saying that I wanted someone to come and work for me-for free. I would give them in exchange the only thing I had to offer – NLP and Hypnotherapy training. Fifteen people applied for the position. I interviewed eleven and took on three. Yay! Good times!

These days, People Building has moved into the medium of media with me (Gemma) steering the reins. The newsletter “Hello People!” is distributed to several thousand people, and the People Building Podcast is downloaded by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. It has consistently remained in the top 10 of the Itunes alternative health download chart since it began. Then in 2009 The People Building podcast was nominated for the People’s Choice Podcast Award several times over. Also in 2009, the video podcast began and hundreds of people began receiving the video directly to their inbox, whilst many more are watching on YouTube and Facebook.

When People Building began, I wanted to create great resources for those who enjoy NLP and Hypnotherapy. I think we did that.

Now we pride ourselves upon being “An NLP and Hypnotherapy training company that provide ongoing support resources to keep your skills alive forever.”

Hmmm, I think I sense a slogan coming on….
